Introduction
This statement is made by The Gap Project Limited ("The Gap Project", "we", "us", "our") in line with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps we take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chain.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in any form — including forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, child labour and human trafficking — and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in every business relationship.
About The Gap Project
The Gap Project Limited is a UK home energy company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 4th Floor, Silverstream House, 45 Fitzroy Street, Fitzrovia, London, W1T 6EB. We arrange the supply and installation of energy-efficient products in homes across the UK, including:
- Solar PV and battery storage
- Air source heat pumps
- A-rated boilers and first-time central heating
- Loft and SuperFoil insulation
- EV chargers and smart heating controls
We are an Introducer Appointed Representative (FSR No. 1051374) of Phoenix Financial Consultants Limited, who provide regulated finance options for our customers.
Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain includes manufacturers and distributors of heating, renewable and insulation products, accredited installation engineers and subcontractors, surveyors, logistics partners, and providers of professional, IT and back-office services. The majority of our direct suppliers are based in the UK and the EU.
We recognise that the wider manufacturing and construction sectors carry an elevated modern slavery risk, particularly in raw materials, component manufacturing and labour supply. We take this risk seriously and design our processes to address it.
Our Policies
We maintain policies that reflect our commitment to acting ethically and lawfully across all of our business activities, including:
- Anti-slavery and human trafficking policy
- Code of conduct for employees and engineers
- Supplier code of conduct
- Whistleblowing policy enabling confidential reporting of concerns
- Recruitment and right-to-work checks
- Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Due Diligence
We carry out reasonable due diligence on the suppliers, manufacturers and installation partners we work with. This includes:
- Verifying that installers and subcontractors hold the relevant accreditations (such as MCS, NICEIC and Gas Safe) and operate as legitimate businesses.
- Confirming all engineers working on our customers' homes have the right to work in the UK.
- Requiring suppliers and subcontractors to confirm they comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and applicable employment law.
- Reviewing supplier practices where we identify a higher potential risk.
- Encouraging staff, customers and partners to report any concerns through our whistleblowing channel.
Recruitment & Our People
We pay all employees at least the National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage and ensure fair working conditions. Pre-employment checks include verification of identity, right to work and references. We do not charge recruitment fees to workers and do not retain personal documents.
Training & Awareness
All employees receive guidance on identifying the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking, and on how to escalate concerns. Customer-facing engineers and surveyors — who regularly visit homes across the UK — are made aware of indicators they may encounter on site, and how to report them safely.
Reporting Concerns
We encourage anyone — employee, contractor, supplier or member of the public — who has a concern about modern slavery in our business or supply chain to contact us. Reports can be made in confidence and will be investigated in line with our whistleblowing policy.
If you reasonably believe someone is in immediate danger, please contact the police on 999, or the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700.
Continuous Improvement
We regularly review our policies, training and supplier processes to strengthen our approach to preventing modern slavery. This statement will be updated annually to reflect changes in our business and our ongoing commitments.
